It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…

Apologies for being quiet of late, but I have been encased in a whirlwind of snowflakes, sparkle and santa hats… and alas, it is definitely starting to feel a lot like Christmas!


The most Christmas-embracing places I know are the hotels within The Lake District Hotels group, one of my clients for the last 2 years, where Christmas starts in March and goes all the way through the year.  It is, in reality, the opposite of Narnia, aaaaalways Christmas, never Winter.  But it’s safe to say that LDH do it in style with an incomparable warmth that makes all their hotels unique.

Imagine a place where the breath-taking scenery of the Lake District and traditional hospitality combine. A place you will remember forever and return to time after time. Take a step back in time to that golden age of true hospitality, service and comfort and really enjoy yourself with one of our wonderful Lake District Christmas breaks. 

There is so much that goes into this season to create the perfect festive atmosphere.  Here is a video that the hotels have produced to show some of the beautiful decorations off , but of course, I would like to focus this post on the Design for Print services that we were responsible for that go into making a magical Christmas in the Lakes.

Now that you’re officially feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, let’s get to the first element of the print advertising.  The brochures: breaks, and celebrations.


You can download these from the Christmas pages within their website if you fancy a fantastic break away!  This year, we pared back the twinkles and let the images speak for themselves, but tried something a little different for the Celebrations brochures.  To show the myriad of events that go on at the hotels and to let the guest realise exactly what was encased within this celebratory feast, we decided to show the page titles and colorations from the get-go.  This has produced a very tactile brochure which still contains all the information in a pleasing manner.


We then move onto the advertising concepts for the hotels, for which we had different stages of print and digital advertising.  It is a well known fact that no one particularly wants to think of festivities when the sun is shining so we played on this concept with Santa feeling equally chilled out about the whole experience, before another campaign nearer the time to focus on more of a warm merry spirit. Followed by banners, flyers, rebranding the website pages, and other marketing materials…


…before it is time for festive menu designs and the finishing touches.
