We have worked with the lovely team at The Torpenhow Cheese Company from the beginning, designing and developing a distinctive brand. As the farm has been in her family for generations, Jenny wanted to keep the branding monochrome, and loved the lino-cut effect for a handmade rustic feel. They wanted something with bags of character but that was simple and reflective of their area.
From the initial branding we have developed promotional materials, packaging and more for this award-winning Cumbrian company, and a full e-commerce site where they sell to both the trade and the general public.
Having rewilded a lot of the family farm in the process of going organic, wildflowers and native plant species abound. The whole feel of the place is very relaxed, spacious and welcoming and we wanted this to come across in the website; through tone of voice, branding, and overall design.
We began by pulling out a sketchbook and sketching ideas in black pen. Linocuts are notoriously time consuming so we wanted to see if there was a way to get a similar simple effect. We also wanted there to be more organic lines within the site, something a little more real and rustic.
A suite of sketches were created that could be combined and used individually to add general texture and interest to the site, but allow the white space and the beautiful photography to speak for itself.
In addition to the cheese site, we developed the branding and website for their beautiful wedding barn business too www.threehillsbarn.com
